Overview

Inside Pitch ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website and platform at insidepitch.ai and app.insidepitch.ai. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform, create an account, or interact with emails sent through our service. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency.

Information you provide directly:

  • Email address, name, and professional details when you create an account
  • Your role on the platform (journalist, PR professional, or expert source)
  • Organization, title, and area of expertise
  • Messages and context you provide when requesting introductions to sources
  • Preferences such as auto-approve settings and approved connection lists

Information collected automatically:

  • Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps)
  • Usage data collected through our analytics provider (PostHog) including page views, clicks, feature usage, and session recordings to help us understand how the platform is used and improve the experience
  • Cookies and similar technologies used for authentication (session cookies) and analytics

Information from email interactions:

  • Click activity on links within our emails (accept, decline, and account creation links) to help us understand response rates and improve the connection experience

Pre-populated profile data:

  • We compile expert source profiles from publicly available information including press releases, podcast appearances, and conference proceedings. This data is not provided by the individual — it is extracted from public sources using AI. Profiled individuals can claim, correct, or remove their profile at any time.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide the Service and to improve our products and services. Specifically:

  • To operate the platform and facilitate connections between journalists and expert sources
  • To send transactional emails necessary for the service (introduction requests, connection notifications, authentication codes)
  • To authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • To improve the platform, including search quality, matching accuracy, and overall user experience
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and spam

We do not sell your information. We do not use your data for advertising. We use it to provide and improve the service — that's it.

Cookies and Analytics

We use the following cookies and tracking technologies:

  • Session cookies: Essential for keeping you logged in. These are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled while using the platform.
  • Analytics (PostHog): We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage data including page views, feature interactions, and session recordings. This helps us understand how the platform is used and where to improve. PostHog data is processed on servers in the United States. You can opt out of analytics tracking by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser settings.

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies. We do not serve ads or share data with ad networks.

What We Don't Do

  • We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
  • We do not share your email with third parties for their marketing purposes
  • We do not use your data for targeted advertising
  • We do not serve ads on our platform

Data Sharing

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Connection routing: When a journalist requests an introduction, we share relevant details (journalist name, organization, and the context of their request) with the source or their PR representative via email. Contact information is only shared when the source or their representative explicitly accepts the introduction.
  • Service providers: Third-party services that help us operate the platform, including email delivery (Resend), analytics (PostHog), database hosting (Neon), and AI processing (OpenAI). These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to use your data only for providing their services to us.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and platform usage data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the service. Pre-populated profile data is retained until the profiled individual requests removal. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us at hello@insidepitch.ai.
